Shiina's outward personality usually comes across as polite and reserved. She was born blind, and rarely ventures outside most large cities without a guide. In spite of this handicap, she makes her living as a traveling merchant, and dreams of expanding her business.She is usually seen wearing expensive clothing, as maintaining a refined appearance and making good first impressions are important. As one might expect from a skilled saleswoman, Shiina usually dons a persona built from kind words and pleasant smiles. It is not readily apparent whether this is representative of her true nature, but it probably isn't.

Shiina recalls very little of her early childhood. She does not remember the voices or names of her parents, and her earliest memories are of living on the streets of Kugane.When she was seven years old, she had a chance encounter with Momogasa, an Ul'dahn merchant travelling Hingashi to buy and sell wares. The Lalafell took her in and adopted her as his daughter. Momogasa was an accomplished merchant who, over the years, carved out his own business empire. As such, Shiina grew up in a fairly wealthy household, and experienced a largely sheltered life.From an early age, she demonstrated a knack for numbers and a desire to learn as much as possible about finance, economics, and the mercantile trade. She also displayed a keen memory for sounds and speech. Taking note of this, her father brought her into the family business. Eventually she became like an assistant to him, helping with financial decisions, making sales, and training new hires.Now, Shiina seeks to apply everything she has learned about business and build a trade empire of her own. One sale at a time.

-Shiina almost always wears a mask of subdued politeness. Preferring to hide her true emotions, she strives to always show others the perfect face of pleasantry and service. This can make her seem somewhat distant at times.-She absolutely loves to play chess, though she isn't terribly good at it.-She possesses a fairly well developed echoic memory, capable of identifying people she knows well not just by voice, but also gait. She is able to remember entire conversations word-for-word.
